How it works
- Try one practice puzzle. It doesn't count.
- Solve 24 puzzles in up to 20 minutes. Easy ones come first.
- See your range, your four skills and every answer explained.
Four skills, equal weight
- Patterns
- Which piece completes a 3 by 3 grid of pictures?
- Number series
- Which number comes next?
- Spatial
- Which shape is the same one, only turned?
- Sequences
- How does a row of pictures go on? Plus analogies.
We left out word puzzles on purpose. They wouldn't be equally hard in every language.
How we score, honestly
Each kind of puzzle has a difficulty. We use item response theory, the method behind modern ability tests, to find the score that best explains your answers, and how sure we can be.
That's why you get a range like “about 95 to 110”, not one number. 24 puzzles can't be more exact.
For now the scale is our estimate. A representative panel of adults hasn't taken this test yet, so we call the result a reasoning score, not an IQ. When a panel has taken it, we'll say so here, with its size and date.
Norm source: estimated from the design of the puzzles (October 2026). Not yet normed on a panel.
Nothing leaves your device
The test runs in your browser. We don't save your answers on any server. There are no ads, no trackers and no cookies. If you challenge a friend, your score travels inside the link, after the # sign, and browsers never send that part to a server.
Questions
Is this IQ test really free?
Yes. There is no paid result, no certificate and no subscription. You see your whole result and every answer at once.
Do I need to sign up?
No. No sign-up, no email, no account. You start with one tap.
How accurate is it?
As accurate as 24 puzzles allow, which is why we show a range. Our scale is still an estimate. For an official IQ you need a supervised test, for example with Mensa or a psychologist.
Why do I get a range, not a number?
Every test has error. A range shows it honestly. We're 80% sure your score on this test falls inside it.
Can I take it again?
Yes. You get new puzzles of the same kinds. Scores often rise a few points the second time, because the puzzles feel familiar.
How does the challenge work?
After the test, share your link. Your friend gets the same 24 puzzles and sees your score only after finishing. Then you both see who's ahead in each skill.
Does it work with a screen reader?
The number puzzles work with a screen reader, and the whole test works with a keyboard. The picture puzzles need sight. We're sorry: we haven't found a fair way around that yet.
